Solo piano + Electronics
|
Program description |
This program is an exploration of music written for piano and electronics in recent years. Although electronic music still has a futuristic reputation, I have found in these works an intimate connection between the piano and its digital counterpart. When we think of the difference between playing an acoustic instrument and computer generated sound, one major contrast that comes to mind is the robotic sound that a machine makes versus the vast range of emotions and colors we create from channelling through an acoustic instrument. In this program, however, you will hear that the electronic part has created a new palette for the piano, allowing more colors and timbre to come through. At times, it almost sounds more nostalgic than the piano alone. All the pieces on this program spark certain images as well. So I encourage you to sit back, relax, and let the music take your imagination away.
